Meet Teresa

Hi, I am Teresa, the founder and passionate creator behind “You Are Your Solution!” Let me share with you my journey that has shaped my dream into reality, a story that began when I was a young mother and wife at 24.

I was born in Okinawa Japan. My father was in the Air Force, and my mother was the director of daycares on the Air Force bases in Japan and Germany. I lived abroad most of my childhood and was a foreign exchange student in Germany, Amsterdam, and Italy. I am multi-lingual and learned to spin on a dime living in unusual places and interacting with diverse cultures from all over the world. My dad wanted a boy, so he taught me how to fly, put me in the Civil Air Patrol, took me hunting and fishing and made me sleep outdoors in a sleeping bag in 20-degree weather with my brothers. Both my mom and dad were doer’s. My dad served in the Air Force for 40 years. My mom was industrious and could turn a penny into a dollar bill. She was a dancer, singer, and was part of the Golden Girls dance troupe that entertained for local nursing homes and political functions. Both were tenacious, active, entrepreneurial spirits. I come by it naturally.

I have had my share of bitter pills to swallow and am no stranger to loss. I lost my first husband of 9 years, the father of my children at 27. I recently lost my beautiful daughter, Cassandra “Casey” and my best friend and beloved mother, Jewell, 101 eight months after Cassandra.  One of my passions is sailing. I get a lot of inspiration from the sea, which inspired me to say, “let’s go sailing… let the ocean be your white board,” which I have used during team building exercises aboard SasSea, my sailboat.  I am new to the game of golf which keeps the “need for challenges” in check and keeps me very humble. I play Mahjong, enjoy running with my gal pals to wineries, fall festivals, entertaining, and most of all spending time with my family and lots of travel.

My professional career spans more than 45 years. I have owned several companies, The Palmer Partnership, a unique blend of resources that specialized in HR consulting, HR outsourcing, Team Building and Executive Coaching. I created and owned Palmer Personnel, HR Navigator Consulting, True North Sailing, a team building business using my sailboat SasSea for group training sessions and dock side dining. To be credible in my various fields, I am certified as an executive business coach, certified risk manager, certified HR professional, Vistage Trusted Advisor, BBA in Business with a minor in Human Resources, International Degree and Certification in International HR. I  have held positions as a VP of HR for a startup airline, Global VP of HR for an international oil company and worked as a strategic international HR business partner for Dell Computer and Vcfo.  I was an international flight attendant for Braniff Airlines and Continental Airlines, “the most fun I had working!”

I have volunteered for Texas Children’s Hospital Neonatal, Junior League, MHMR, Casa de Esperanza, Cerebral Palsy, Ronald McDonald House, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and Nutcracker Market. I have also held positions as an advisory board member for C. T. Bauer College of Business and served as a mentor for the C. T. Bauer College of Business Entrepreneurial School. I have had various speaking engagements at Texas A&M business college; I have served on many panels on topics relating to organizational exceptionalism through various organizations throughout the years.

I am currently authoring a book, and working on my business TAD Ventures, LLC. which will promote registered trademarks, blogs, and products for the website. I am a lifelong learner, hence one of my mantra’s, “if you stop self-improvement, you pull the plug on your own success” which I have used throughout life and in my businesses. I look forward to developing many meaningful friendships and relationships as I forge ahead and continue to chart a new course every day!  My hope is “You Are Your Solution!”
